Loon Lake Happenings

I am looking forward to the weekend, Trout Opener is here!!!

Want some great fishing, well it is going to happen this weekend on SE MN streams. The water conditions are excellent, the Baetis, Dark Hendrickson and Midges are hatching and the little Gray Caddis hatch could happen anytime. I have spoken with my DNR contacts and the spring trout shocking numbers are looking good. We are hosting the Minnesota Trout Unlimited State Council meeting Saturday morning and I have been told it will be done by noon so everyone from around the state that attends will have plenty of time to wet a line. I am looking forward to seeing the guys and sharing time on the water with them.

Visit our website page with our folk art fish if you can't make it out this weekend, www.loonlakedecoycompany.com/shop/7/category/364

Loon Lake happenings this week include us adding a half dozen new items to the bargain corner and getting some of the first spring yard work done around the shop, nice to clean things up a bit after a long winter. We also are pleased to say that we are working with Ducks Unlimited on designing a new decoy concept for their fundraising banquets.

Speaking of Ducks Unlimited, if you are a committee member and are looking for an excellent item for your banquet make sure you call the National Office right away. They informed me they are running low on the DU exclusive (available only throught Ducks Unlimited) Flying Mallard Wall Mount Pair we handcrafted for them. If you want this special sculpture you need to order it soon before they are all gone, the National Office number is (901) 758-3825.

Make sure you check out the Eagle cam, the parents are real busy feeding the three chicks and it is fun to see all the different kinds of fish and animals the adults bring back to the nest for the young ones. It is going to be an interesting spring keeping tabs on them. http://www.raptorresource.org/falcon_cams/index.html

Looking to find out what Decoys can be worth check out the Guyette and Schmidt website, they are the auction house that sells the most expensive decoys in the world. One visit to http://www.guyetteandschmidt.com/ and you will be checking out your attic.

Next week Wednesday is Earth Day, the Earth Day website is a good place to see how you can enjoy the day and help the planet. http://ww2.earthday.net/

One last thing, our washer broke down yesterday spilling water all over our utility room. My lovely bride is saying it is time to get a front load machine. If any of you have good advice or experience with the front loading machines please drop me a note regarding what you would recommend. Thank You!

Thanks again everyone for your comments about the blog, please email me any input, ideas or subjects you would like to see us touch on.
